A good Nickel plated American Remington 6 shot New Model Navy .38 rimfire Revolver. 1878. The 7.5 octagonal barrel stamped on top with Patented Sept.14 1858. March 17 1863. Remington’s New Model Navy was the next percussion revolver to get the conversion treatment beginning in 1873, chambered for either .38 rimfire or .38 centerfire cartridges. Many of these however where not conversions but actually left the factory as cartridge revolvers which this pistol is. The Navy was also the first model to come standard with both a loading gate and cartridge ejector. (The ejector rod is a replacement on this revolver). The grips are old but possibly not the original factory grips. (Please see photos). In good overall condition with a few minor blemishes to the nickel plating. Action in good working order. Overall length 13 inches. Ref 2538.
This is an obsolete antique pistol and is sold as a collectors item only.
