A very fine pair of good Quality English brass framed Flintlock pocket Pistols made by R. THEWLIS of HUDDERSFIELD, Circa 1800. The round actions with side-plates engraved to both sides with a stand of arms. The makers name engraved on the breech of both pistols. Screw off 1.5 inch barrels with very fine engraving around the muzzles. Sliding top safety and drop down triggers. Two British proof marks stamped to the underside of the breech. Rounded walnut bag shaped grips with oval silver escutcheons fitted to the rear. Matching silver butt-caps In very good condition overall with some minor blemishes to the woodwork. Actions in good working order. Overall length 6 inches. A very nice pair of the type of pocket pistols that were carried for personal protection at the end of the 18th century. Excellent investment potential. Ref 1668.
