A rare 18th century Napoleonic era flintlock powder tester or Eprouvette, probably French or Italian. Circa 1750-1800. This is a genuine powder tester of the type used by early settlers and travellers during the 1750-1800 era. The measuring wheel is graduated from 1 to 12 and is engraved on the side of the wheel. A makers name is engraved on the lock-plate but unfortunately is not completely legible. (The signature looks like P. Franco Desvrais ? ) Some minor dings and scratches to the wooden grip otherwise in good condition and in working condition. Length 10 inches. A very rare item. Ref 3259.
