A scarce American .32 Rim-fire tip-up, brass frame 5 shot pocket Revolver made by J Marlin. Circa 1875. The side of the 3 inch barrel marked with the makers name J. M. Marlin. New Haven, Ct. USA. Pat July 1st 1873. The top of the barrel marked No 32 STANDARD 1875. Spur trigger and birds head chequered grips embossed with M.F.A.Co. John Mahlon Marlin was born on May 6, 1836 near Windsor Locks, Connecticut. At the age of 18 he became an apprentice machinist with the American Machine Works. He later served as a machinist with Colt Patent Firearms of Hartford. In 1863 he started his own pistol manufacturing business in New Haven. Some signs of wear and normal use during it's working life otherwise in good condition. Action in working order. Overall length 7 inches. A nice example of a scarce Marlin rim-fire revolver. Ref 3833.
