X X X SOLD X X X Austrian flintlock pistol circa 1760-80. Good condition. Ref 1620.
A nice quality very long Austrian flintlock pistol with a 13 inch iron barrel inlaid with silver, and very decorative embossed brass mounts. Circa 1760-1780. The lock plate engraved with the maker's name "MAYER IN WIEN". (Probably Martin Mayer who worked as a gunsmith in WIEN circa 1763. Brass butt cap embossed with a grotesque mask. The side plate is plain (possibly an old replacement). Complete with its wooden ramrod with brass tip. Overall length 20 inches. Showing some normal signs of use and genuine wear. A nice example of these very long flintlock pistols that were carried by the horsemen of the Austro-Hungarian empire during the mid -18th century. Some minor scratches and dings but overall in very good condition. Action in working order. Ref 1620.
