A fine all brass English Flintlock box-lock pocket pistol made by GOODWIN & CO (Probably George Goodwin of Birmingham and London). Circa 1800. The side-plate engraved "LONDON" to one side and "GOODWIN & CO" to the other. Sliding top safety, drop down folding trigger, screw off brass barrel. British proof marks and a makers mark stamped to the underside of the breech. The trigger is a little stiff when dropping down, otherwise in good working order and condition. Overall length of pistol is 6.5 inches. This is the type of pistol that would have been carried in a pocket or saddlebag during the late 18th century by an English gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon. Ref 8552.
This is an obsolete antique pistol and is sold as a collectors item only.
