A French flintlock pistol of unusual length by Simon Jovrjon. Circa 1740. Engraved on the lock plate the makers name S Jourjon. Simon Jourjon worked at Saint Etienne. 13.75 inch barrel. Large brass butt-cap with a grotesque mask. Brass trigger guard, ramrod pipes and side plate embossed with a serpents head. Iron ramrod. Oval shaped brass escutcheon embossed with a face. Horn fore-end. Approx .60 calibre. Overall length 21 inches. Action in good working order. In good condition for it's age, with some dents and scratches to the woodwork. Ref 2991.
