A scarce American 4 barrelled .32 rim-fire Derringer made by Sharps. Circa 1859. Marked on the frame C. Sharp's Patent Jan 25 1859. Engraved on top of the 3.75 inch barrels ADDRESS SHARPS & HANKINS PHILADELPHIA PENN. The frame retaining much of it's original blueing. Sharps antique derringers became known as the “hideout pistol” by westerners. The gun was very commonly used by gamblers and tavern frequenters since they could slide it up their sleeve or in their pocket without the people around the being any the wiser. Western outlaws loved the conceal ability and carried the gun as an extra side arm. Overall length 6 inches. Action in good working order. In good condition retaining much of it's original blueing. Ref 2638.
