A scarce U. S. Smith's patent folding action breech-loading Civil War percussion carbine with a sliding saddle ring fitted to the side of action. Circa 1860-1864. Engraved on the side "Manufactured by MASS ARMS CO. Chicopee Falls." "Adress Poultney & Trimble Baltimore, USA". Nice solid action and lock-up. All metal is brown with some authentic wear and some signs of use. Wood is good and the carbine is in overall good condition. Crisp action. Overall length 39 inches.
