X X SOLD X X A HAMMOND BULLDOG single shot rimfire Derringer, retaining much finish. Ref 9851.
A rare .44 R/F Calibre "HAMMOND BULLDOG" single shot rim-fire Derringer, retaining most of it's original finish. Circa 1866-1880. Patent dates engraved on top of the breech. The 4 inch octagonal barrel retaining much of it's original blue and engraved "CONNECTICUT ARMS & MANFG.CO. NAUBUC CONN. The breech-block pivots to one side for loading. Fine chequered grips. The condition is very good with no real sign of use. Action works fine. Overall length approx 8.5 inches. These guns are infamous because one was owned by 'Big Nose Kate' the prostitute partner of Doc Haliday. After they went their separate ways, she was found with one of these in her luggage and had the gun taken away from her and was shot and killed with it. Ref 9851.
