A scarce and unusual .44/.41 rim-fire Remington-type over & under Derringer Pistol. Circa 1865. There are no marks on this pistol indicating it to be made by Remington but the style identifies this as either Remington or a period copy of a Remington. Over & under 3 inch barrels, hinged and rising for loading.  What makes this pistol much more unusual than the standard Remington pistol is firstly the unusual extractor mechanism and secondly it takes a weird cartridge which appears to be .44 rimfire cal at the breech but fires a .41calibre projectile?. Two piece wooden grips. A scarce, unusual and extremely interesting Derringer. Overall length 5 inches. In good condition showing some signs of use. Action in good working order. Ref 2521.
