A very rare brass framed 18th century combination tinder-lighter with candle stick. Made by W, Sirdefield and engraved with his name to the side of frame.  Circa 1740-1780. This is a genuine brass framed tinder lighter approximately the same size as a flintlock box-lock pocket pistol. The squared Brass frame is fitted with  a storage compartment for the tinder that was usually open weave flax or other material that would be easily combustible. Good condition and in working order. Complete with its original wax candle of the same period. Length 7 inches. Ref 4673.
