A nice quality English silver mounted Queen Anne style Flintlock Boxlock pocket pistol Circa 1760 - 1775. The sideplate engraved "WILSON". (Possibly Richard Wilson who had a work shop in London circa 1730-1766). Walnut butt inlaid with silver wire scrolls and a silver oval escutcheon to the rear. Silver grotesque mask butt-cap with full British silver hall mark. Steel screw-off cannon barrel. Two London proof marks to the breech. In working order and good condition. Overall length 8 inches. This is the type of pistol that would have been carried in a pocket or a saddle bag during the late 18th century by an English gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon.
