A scarce Chinese antique brass mounted sword, circa 1860-1900. The fish-skin grip bound with a copper strip with brass top and bottom mounts embossed with symbols. The single edged blade with two fullers running down the blade, blade length approx 19 inches. A scarce sword quite possibly brought back to the UK after the Boxer rebellion circa 1900-1901. In its correct brass mounted scabbard with brass mounts and two brass hanging rings. The scabbard split at the join. (Please see photos). Circular brass hand-guard also decorated with Chinese symbols. Overall length in scabbard 27 inches. Ref 4057.
