A very scarce American Civil War era 5 shot .32 rim-fire tip-up revolver made by the world famous Smith & Wesson company of Springfield Mass. Circa 1865-1875. The 3.5 barrel engraved SMITH & WESSON. SPRINGFIELD. MASS PAT.D. APR.3.65 JULY 5.59 & NOV.21.65. Rosewood bird's head grip. This revolver retaining its original nickel finish, with no signs of wear. This Smith & Wesson revolver was one of the very first commercially successful revolvers to use rim-fire cartridges instead of the previously popular black powder and lead ball.Good working action. Overall length 8 inches. Very unusual to find with its original Mother-of-pearl grips. A scarce revolver in super condition. Ref 4605.
