A very rare VIETNAMESE fighting sword Guom type, embossed with an animal head. Ref 3270.
A very rare VIETNAMESE fighting sword, Guom type with animal figure embossed to the top of hilt, complete with its original wooden scabbard with brass mounts. This is a very plain and simple example. Blade is single edged, approx length of blade is 26 inches. There are engraved characters to the blade. (now very faint, please see photo). Overall length in scabbard is 37 inches. Condition is mostly good with some minor dings and bruises. The scabbard of wood and is split with one piece missing from the back edge, the top and bottom mounts are made of brass now slightly damaged. The slotted guard with a small piece missing. Probably 19th Century. Ref 3270.
