A scarce spur trigger American 5 shot .32 calibre rim-fire revolver. Circa 1871-1879. Not marked however probably made by WHITNEYVILLE ARMOURY of CT circa 1871. The Whitneyville Armory is located in Whitneyville Connecticut. This area today near Hamden Connecticut was so named due to its association with the famous Eli Whitney, the inventor of the Cotton Gin. Whitney also manufactured firearms, such as Springfield Muskets and his son also named Eli Whitney, followed in his footsteps. The factory was expanded and the area became known as Whitneyville, making firearms throughout the 19th century. Eventually, after several consolidations the factory became Whitneyville Armory. Wooden birds head grips. Action in good working order with a very strong spring. In good condition retaining much of it's original nickel finish with a few minor scratches & blemishes. Overall length 7.5 inches. Ref 4281.
