A scarce Chinese brass mounted sword, probably circa 1900.The grip bound with braid with brass top and bottom mounts embossed with symbols. The single edged blade with two fullers running down the blade, length approx 19 inches. A scarce sword quite possibly brought back to the UK after the Boxer rebellion circa 1900-1901. In its correct brass mounted scabbard with two hanging rings and separate brass hanger. Overall length in scabbard 30 inches. Ref 1796.
