A scarce brass hilt infantry hanger or short sword from the era just before the American Revolutionary war. Circa 1775-1783. This sword was British manufactured during the period 1745-1770. Brass knuckle-bow, solid brass shell guard and turned brass pommel. The single edged blade approx 25 inches long and stamped on both sides of the blade with the military mark of a crown and GR. Blade showing some minor wear and edge knicks, otherwise in very good condition. Nice period patina to the brass. A very good authentic piece from the U.S. Revolutionary war era, with the added interest of it being manufactured in Great Britain during the period just before the American Revolutionary War.
