A scarce American Colt no 3. derringer single shot pistol in obsolete .41 rim-fire calibre. Circa 1875. Colt's 3rd Model derringer was the brain child of F. Alexander Thuer, a veteran gunsmith at Samuel Colt's manufacturing plant. Nickel plated finish over brass frame. Bird's head two piece wooden grips. Barrel engraved on top "COLT". Marked on the frame .41 Cal. Barrel swivels to the side for loading. Overall length 5 inches.
In reasonable condition showing signs of genuine wear and use. Action works fine.
