A scarce American Colt no 3. antique single shot derringer pistol in obsolete .41 rim-fire calibre.
Circa 1875. Nickel plated finish over brass frame. Bird's head wooden two piece grips. Barrel engraved on top "COLT". Marked on the frame .41 cal. Barrel swivels to the side for loading. In well used condition, retaining some of its original nickel plating. Action works fine. Showing some genuine wear and minor dings and marks, the nickel plating in worn condition in places, hence the lower than normal price. Ref 1436.
These pistols were very popular with gamblers and women of the night.
