A  rare Napoleonic Era French Military Flintlock short musket, (the short pattern was made for Artillery etc) complete with its original iron ramrod. These muskets were manufactured from c. 1810-1830 and were the one of the standard French weapons carried throughout the Peninsular wars (1808-1814) as well as at the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815. The lock-plate is signed with the manufacturing arsenal name "Manufre'  Imple' de Charleville". (Some of the lettering is now faint but the word Charleville is clearly readable). Standard military issue iron butt-plate, side-plate, trigger-guard and matching fore-end cap. Condition is well used with some signs of use. The spring is very strong and the action works fine. The woodwork in very well used condition with various dents and dings throughout. Complete with its original steel ramrod. Only one sling swivel fitted. These Napoleonic Flintlock muskets are quite rare. Barrel length 31 inches. Overall length approx 47 inches.
Many Charleville manufactured Flintlock Muskets were imported into the U.S.A. during the 18th-19th century and it is well documented that this type of weapon were carried extensively in the USA during the Revolutionary and the US civil wars as well as in all the Napoleonic campaigns circa 1795-1815. This musket could easily have been carried by one of the French soldiers at the battle of Waterloo on June 18th 1815. Ref 3327.
