A rare Remington New Model Navy 6 shot .36 calibre percussion revolver. Circa 1863. The 7-3/8 octagonal barrel marked PATENTED SEPT.14 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK U.S.A./NEW MODEL. The US Navy purchased 4,300 of these rare revolvers. In 1866 the Navy took inventory of it's weapons and those still serviceable were then marked with a small anchor on the barrel. This revolver does not have that mark. Action in good working order. In good overall condition with some very minor dings and scratches during it's working life. Overall length 13 inches. A good example of a Remington New Model Navy purchased by the U.S. Navy. Ref 4290.
