A rare English Queen Anne Silver Mounted Flintlock pistol made by R. Willoughby. Circa 1740. The makers name engraved on the breech R. WILLOUGHBY. Screw off 5.5 inch cannon barrel. Decorative silver side plate and grotesque silver butt cap. Very fine silver wire inlay to the grip and and silver shaped escutcheon. The butt cap fitted with a large silver grotesque mask. A good example of the type of weapon carried by a Gentleman or officer during the 18th Century. Action in good working order. Some slight staining to the barrel otherwise in good overall condition. Overall length 13 inches. Ref 3680.
