A rare pair of English flintlock pistols of large calibre, engraved MORTIMER. Circa 1790. Ref 2384.
A rare pair of English flintlock travelling pistols of large calibre. The locks engraved "MORTIMER" 7 inch octagonal browned barrels engraved "LONDON". Calibre approx .65 cal. Walnut stocks fitted with shaped silver escutcheons to the grips. Overall length of the pistols is 11 inches. Extremely crisp working actions. The pistols are in very good untouched condition. Brass furniture, complete with both original wooden ramrods. A rare opportunity to acquire a fine pair of flintlock pistols made by a very well known London gunsmith.This is the type of pistol that would have been carried in a holster or a saddle bag during the late 18th century by an English gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon. Ref 2384.
