A rare Napoleonic era Military Officer's Flintlock Pistol probably manufactured at one of the Belgian Military arsenals and dating from around the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Manufactured circa 1810-1820. Rounded brass military skull-crusher butt-cap, matching brass military style trigger-guard, brass fore-end cap and side-plate. Action in excellent working order. This type of heavy calibre flintlock pistol were carried by cavalry officers and Naval personnel during the era of the Napoleonic campaigns of the late 18th-early 19th century. This pistol is complete with an iron ramrod. Liege proof mark stamped to barrel breech. Overall length 13 inches. In very good condition and in working order. Ref 3562.
Napoleonic flintlock pistols are very popular with collectors and are highly likely to increase in value as they get much harder to find keeping in mind the interest generated in Napoleonic era weaponry, by the bi-centenary held in 2015 of the Battle of Waterloo (June 1815).
