Description

A rare English Queen Anne style cannon barrelled flintlock pistol made by HADLEY of London Circa 1770. Brass frame and barrel. The screw-off brass barrel approx 5.5 inches in length, stamped under the breech with two proof marks. The frame engraved with the maker's name "HADLEY" to one side and "LONDON" to the other side. The walnut butt profusely inlaid with silver wire decoration and fitted with a silver hallmarked grotesque mask butt-cap stamped with 3 British silver marks. An excellent example of the type of weapon carried for personal protection by a man of means, during the mid-late 18th century. Some minor dings and signs of normal wear considering it is well over 200 years old, otherwise in good working order and condition. Overall length approx 12 inches. Ref 2352.
