A rare antique English Silver hilted small sword with a double shell guard and Colichemarde blade. The silver hallmark date letter dates it to London 1721. (please see photo). A clear makers mark G.W. (possibly George Willcocks). This makers mark and the silver hallmark is stamped into a small panel on the edge of the shell guard. Ovoid pommel and showing faint traces of engraving to blade. This is an authentic gentleman's silver hilted sword made a few years before the Napoleonic wars and at around the right time for a British gentleman who may have been sailing off to the Americas prior to the American Revolution. Silver hilt swords are rare. Blade length is 27 inches. A few minor dings and dents, otherwise in good condition. Overall length is 34 inches. Ref 3269.
