A rare all brass Napoleonic period French officer's Flintlock Blunderbuss pistol. Circa 1790. The 3 inch brass barrel at the muzzle swelling out to a size of 0.5 inches. Decorative engraving to the sides of brass frame. Finely chequered grips with wooden panels engraved with a star within a diamond shape. Silver wire inlay to the rear of grip. Decorative iron trigger guard. Sliding top safety. Overall length 6.5 inches. Nice crisp action. Some signs of wear and use, otherwise in good overall condition. Calibre approx .50 cal. A good example of the type of weapon that were often carried by naval officers during the period of the American Revolutionary wars as well as the Napoleonic era. Ref 4379.
