A rare mid-19th century SHEFFIELD MADE Bowie Knife circa 1860, with a shaped mother-of pearl grip, embossed nickel silver cross-guard & nickel silver mount to bottom of scabbard. The blade with etched makers name at the forte "SLASH. Chas. Ibbotson & Co. Cutlers, Sheffield". Blade excellent condition. The blade is also etched with the motto- No Me Saques Sin Razon -- No Me Embaines Sin Honor. The grips fitted with two mother-of-pearl panels. Complete in its original leather scabbard with embossed decoration around the edges. The bottom nickel scabbard mount is missing. This knife shows very little signs of use or wear. The motto is feint but readable. An excellent example of an authentic SHEFFIELD MADE 19th century Bowie-knife. Very good condition. Blade length 7.5 inches. Overall length in scabbard 12.5 inches. A very rare knife. Ref 3521.
