A good Transitional Rapier Circa 1640-1660, probably English. This type of scarce sword was carried by both sides during the English Civil War, circa 1640-1660. The wooden grip still retains its original wire binding and its wire bound "turks heads". The hilt with two faces chisselled to either side of the shell guard. The blade showing some minor signs of age and engraved with letters in the deep fullers. - ''ME FECIT SALINGEN''. Blade length 34 inches. Overall length 41 inches. A good honest untouched Civil war piece. Ref 3304.
