A good tiny English Flintlock boxlock miniature muff pistol by Holmes. Circa 1800. Stand of arms engraved decoration to both sides of the frame and the makers name "HOLMES" engraved in a panel to one side. Screw off 1.25 inch barrel, sliding top safety and drop down concealed trigger. Two British proof marks stamped to the underside of breech. Flat sided walnut grips. Overall length is just under 5 inches. In good working order and condition. This is the type of tiny pistol that would have been carried during the late 18th century as a personal protection weapon. Ref 9531.
