A good all brass English Flintlock box-lock pocket pistol made by Weddison of London. Circa 1800. The side-plate engraved "LONDON" to one side and "WEDDISON" to the other. Sliding top safety, drop down folding trigger, 1.5 inch screw off brass barrel. Finely chequered grips. British proof marks stamped to the underside of the breech. Good working action. In good condition showing some signs of use and wear. Overall length of pistol is 6 inches. This is the type of pistol that would have been carried in a pocket or saddlebag during the late 18th century by an English gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon. Ref 1541.
