A very Fine English silver mounted brass framed flintlock cannon barrel pistol made by Bunney of London. Circa 1780. Joseph Bunney Gun & Pistol makers circa 1766-1825, he had two workshops, the first at 25 Snow Hill circa 1804-1815 and the second at Caroline Street, St Pauls, London circa 1815-1821. The side plates engraved LONDON to one side and BUNNEY to the other. Very fine silver wire inlay to the grip with a silver embossed butt-cap and fitted with a silver oval escutcheon. Two silver hallmarks to the butt-cap. London proof marks to the screw off barrel. A tiny chip to the under side of its grip otherwise in good condition showing little sign of use or wear. Action in good working order. Overall length 12.5 inches. Ref 3419.
