A fine quality 17th century Spanish cup-hilt rapier with deeply pierced and chiselled bowl. The hilt comprising a very fine round lobed iron pommel, very good quality wire-bound grip, decorated around the deep bowl with various pierced panels and two large birds-of-prey. Iron knuckle bow with two long straight steel quillons. The double edged very stiff blade approximately 35 inches in length and stamped with two tiny blade makers initials at the forte, appears to be a tiny C and B with a star over each letter, inside a circular cartouche. Some signs of minor wear and use, otherwise in excellent overall condition with no damage. A super addition to any collection. Overall length 41 inches. Ref 3335.
