An extremely Fine Pair of brass mounted Irish Flintlock Pistols made by RAINSFORD of DUBLIN. (Michael Rainsford worked at Castle Yard Dublin circa 1735-1757 and was followed by his son James Rainsford who worked circa 1757 -1790 ). The gun makers name RAINSFORD is engraved on both locks. The barrels each stamped with London proof marks. Overall length of each pistol is 14 inches. Barrels approx 8 inches long. The stocks are each inlaid with very fine pierced side-plates and fine silver wire inlay around the tang. Brass trigger guards. In very good crisp condition. Both actions are in good working order. A rare opportunity to buy a good authentic pair of high quality Irish Flintlock pistols of the type that could have been carried during the Napoleonic era. Some staining to the iron work otherwise in super condition. Ref 1586.
