A fine Napoleonic era British Military Flintlock Pistol. Circa 1780-1820. The lock plate marked Crown over GR (for King George 111), small crown over a broad arrow (Government ownership mark)and Tower engraved across the tail of the lock-plate. Brass military side plate, skull crusher butt cap, trigger guard and ram-rod pipe. The standard 9 inch round barrel stamped with London proof marks. Brass tipped wooden ramrod fitted under the barrel. The British royal cipher of a crown over GR impressed into the stock at the wrist. Good crisp action with a strong spring. Some dark staining to the metal (would benefit from a clean), otherwise in very good condition. Calibre approx .69 cal. Overall length 16 inches. An excellent example of a British military flintlock pistol that would have been carried by an officer during the Napoleonic wars. Ref 3668.
