A fine Napoleonic era British Military Flintlock Pistol. Circa 1790-1815. The lock plate marked Crown over GR ( King George 111), small crown over a broad arrow (Government ownership mark) Tower engraved just to the edge the lock. Brass side plate, skull crusher butt cap, trigger guard and ram-rod pipe. The 9 inch round barrel stamped with two British proof marks. Captive steel swivel ramrod. The Letter KL marked underneath the stock before the trigger guard. Good crisp action. Some slight dark staining to the stock otherwise in very good condition. Overall length 16 inches. An excellent example of a British military flintlock pistol carried by an officer during the Napoleonic wars, this pistol could quite possibly have been carried during the battle of Waterloo. Ref 7321. 

The Battle of Waterloo was fought on 18 June 1815 between the French Army led by Napoleon Bonaparte and a coalition led by the Duke of Wellington for Great Britain, & Marshal Blücher of Germany. The decisive battle of its age, it concluded the Napoleonic wars that had raged for 23 years, it ended all French attempts to dominate Europe, and destroyed Napoleon's imperial power forever.
