A scarce and nice quality English 19th Century Percussion pocket pistol made by Monck of Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. Calibre approx .30 cal. Nice crisp action engraved on the barrel with the gun-makers name J. MONCK STAMFORD. The walnut butt fitted with an oval escutcheon. Screw-off octagonal barrel, barrel length approx 2 inches. Good working order. The barrel and frame are both stamped with a Birmingham proof mark. Folding drop-down trigger. Action very crisp. Overall length approx 6 inches. Circa 1830-1840. Very good overall condition. This is a nice example of a pocket pistol that would have been carried for personal protection during the mid 19th century. Ref 3167.
