A fine English .65 calibre percussion Officer's travelling pistol by Westley Richards. Circa 1840-1860. Westley Richards was founded in Birmingham in 1812 by William Westley Richards at the age of 22. Since 1840 the company have received several royal warrants. The lock-plate engraved with floral decoration and the makers name Westley Richards. Sliding safety fitted to the rear of the hammer. The makers name Westley Richards engraved on top of the octagonal 7.5 inch barrel. Steel captive swivel ramrod fitted under the barrel. Finely engraved trigger guard retaining most of its original blued finish. Good chequered grips with a silver oval escutcheon. A fine example of an officer's travelling pistol by Westley Richards. Very good condition overall retaining much original finish. Overall length 11.5 inches. Ref 4123.
