A fine English .45 calibre percussion Officer's travelling pistol engraved Westley Richards. Circa 1835-1850. Westley Richards was founded in Birmingham in 1812 by William Westley Richards at the age of 22. Since 1840 the company have received several royal warrants. The nickel silver side-plate engraved with floral decoration and the 3 inch octagonal barrel blued overall & engraved on top with the makers name Westley Richards. Finely engraved trigger guard retaining much of its original blued finish. Good chequered Walnut grips with a silver oval escutcheon. A fine example of a travelling pistol made by the world famous Westley Richards. Very good condition retaining much original finish. Overall length 7.5 inches. Ref 4411.
