A fine cased pair of silver inlaid English percussion pistols made by RICHARDSON Gunmakers of LIVERPOOL. Both pistols in very good condition with the silver wire inlay all intact. Circa 1835-1845. The pistols have brass frames with drop-down triggers. The barrels are octagonal and 1.5 inches in length. Silver oval escutcheons inset into the rear of each butt. The pistols engraved RICHARDSON to one side of the brass frame and LIVERPOOL to the other side. The butt caps of silver and both are embossed with a Lions face mask. The set contained in a wooden pistol case with red baize lining, the case containing a tiny copper powder flask stamped SYKES and an iron pincer bullet mold and barrel key. Birmingham proof marks to each pistol. The pistols are 5 inches long. Case size 9 X 6 inches. The set in very good condition. Ref 4349.
