A scarce English double barrelled over & under percussion pistol Circa 1840. The side-plate engraved with the maker's name LANG PATENT, HAYMARKET LONDON. (Joseph Lang had a workshop at the Haymarket in London from 1821 -1851.) decorative engraving to both sides of frame. Dolphin shaped hammer. Stamped with London proof marks to the breech. Silver oval shaped escutcheon fitted into the rear of the finely chequered grips. Engraved silver butt-cap. Sliding top safety and folding trigger. Action in good working order. Signs of some minor wear and use, otherwise in very good condition. The grip chequering still quite sharp. Overall length 6 inches. Ref 4153.
