A very rare English civil war period dish-hilt rapier. - circa 1640-1650. Various Floral motifs embossed to the circular dish-guard & the cross-guard with additional side-bars. The guard engraving is very clear. Double edged rapier blade 35.5 inches in length, struck with various letters in the fullers on both sides but unfortunately too faint to read. Overall length 43 inches. The grip wire binding is intact and is still complete with its Turk's head bindings at top and bottom of the grip. A very rare English rapier and in very good condition with no damage to the sword at all.
