A scarce 19th century Scottish Highland full dress Powder horn probably circa 1860-1870. The body made from horn and fitted with nicely embossed nickel silver top and bottom mounts. 3 nickel silver hanging rings fitted to the horn to hold the carrying chain. The large bottom mount decorated with leaves and inset to the centre with a large Cairngorm stone. The top mount in the shape of a thistle also set with a faceted Cairngorm stone. This is a very well known type of traditional Scottish dress powder horn carried with Full Highland Dress during special events in the 19th century. Good condition. Excellent condition. Approx 13 inches overall. Ref 2290.
