X X X SOLD X X X A Scottish Dirk 1835. in silver mounted leather scabbardwith bi-knife. Ref 8702.
A very fine authentic silver mounted Scottish dirk dating from the mid 19th century. The hilt finely carved with a Celtic weave pattern and inlaid with small studs. The pommel inset with an amber Cairngorm stone. The 12 inch scalloped blade is stamped with the makers mark "F. A. Lyon - 50 Leith Street Edinburgh". Complete with its matching bi-knife and fork, each also set with a coloured stone in the pommel.
The smaller blade is also stamped with the makers name "F. A. Lyon Edinburgh". (F. A. Lyon was located on Leith Street in Edinburgh between 1796 and 1850).
Complete with its silver mounted leather scabbard. The mounts stamped with the British silver assay mark. The silver hallmarks date it to 1835. The bottom scabbard mount is an old replacement but hardly noticeable. Otherwise in very good condition. Length 19.5 inches overall. Ref 8702.
