A rare Silver mounted brass Napoleonic period Flintlock Blunderbuss Officer's pistol with folding bayonet. Made in SOLINGEN Germany. Circa 1790-1820. The brass barrel at the muzzle swelling out to a size of around 1.25 inches diameter. One side plate engraved "P. Pieper & Co". The other side-plate engraved "A solingen". We can find no reference to this gumaker and have never seen a German made flintlock blunderbuss pistol before. Sliding top safety catch. Very good condition. An excellent example of the type of weapon carried by a gentleman or naval officer during the period of the Napoleonic wars. Very good condition. Overall length with bayonet folded is approx 10 inches. Length with bayonet open is 14 inches. The wooden grips with some scratches and dings. Ref 1678.
