A  scarce Colt model 1849 pocket .31 calibre  percussion revolver with blued barrel. Manufactured in 1865. The 4 inch blued barrel marked ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK U.S AMERICA. The stage-coach cylinder scene is clearly visible on this fine example. Cylinder scenes during this period were normal for Colt revolvers. Colt not only did this for their visual appeal but it made it difficult for others to copy his revolvers. The scene on the 1849 Pocket model is that of a stagecoach robbery depicting a stagecoach drawn by four horses with a woman framed in the doorway of the side of the coach. The driver is standing alongside the coach wielding his COLT pistol against multiple assailants, which several of them lay on the ground, one trying to control the horses, a couple are running away and one in the process of falling after being shot. All matching serial numbers.(The serial number indicates the year of manufacture as 1865). Action in good working order. In very good condition retaining much of it's original blueing to the barrel and they cylinder scene still clearly visible. A good example of a civil war era Colt percussion revolver retaining much of it's original finish. Ref 4584.
