An extremely fine and unusually long pair of Liege Flintlock Pistols of high quality. Circa 1740. Named COUNA and signed on the lock-plates E. COUNA. (Elizabeth Couna worked in Liege in the latter part of the century and was the daughter of gun-maker Jean Francois Couna who was active in Liege circa 1743-1767). Decorated brass barrels approx 14 inches long. The pistols are embellished with fine brass mounts overall, including butt caps, trigger guards, Calibre approx .65 cal. Both pistols fitted with very finely worked pierced side-plates depicting angels blowing trumpets. Overall length 21 inches. Actions both work fine. A very fine quality and extremely unusual pair of high quality flintlock pistols from the 1740/1750 period. Ref 3927.
