An exceptional 18 inch long Flintlock pistol with heavy brass barrel by Knubley, London. Circa 1785-1799. Engraved on the brass lock-plate with the makers name Knubley. John Knubley had a workshop in Charing Cross london (1785-1799). Engraved on top of the brass 12 inch octagonal twelve bore barrel ''Knubley Charing Cross London''. Tutanag butt cap, matching trigger guard and ramrod pipes. Tutanag also known as Tutenague is an alloy of copper and nickel closely resembling silver and often used on pistols in place of silver. Shield shaped silver escutcheon to the grip. Wooden ramrod. Two small cracks to the fore-end, otherwise in good overall condition with a few minor dings and scratches. Action in good working order. Overall length 18 inches. Ref 3509.
